Adopt-A-Stream

On January 14, 2010, over 60 fourth graders from Forest Park Elementary School adopted the stream beside our school. Students collected 10 bags of trash during the clean up. If not collected the trash would have washed into local streams. This trash would have harmed animals living near the stream and the quality of our drinking water. We would like to say Thank you to Roseann L'Esperance from the City of Winston-Salem Stormwater Division for educating and supporting our efforts to improve the quality of our city.

Learning about stormwater run off using EnviroScape

On January 6, 2010 we were fortunate to have Ms. L'Esperance from the City of Winston-Salem Stormwater Division to come to our classroom. Ms. L'Esperance shared with us the importance of keeping our waterways clean. She used a 3D model called EnviroScape to demonstrate sources of non point population. The Fourth grade at Forest Park will be taking part in Adopt-A-Stream on Thursday, January 14 to help clean our waterways here in Winston-Salem clean.
