Sitting Down to take a Stand (Greensboro Sit In)

To honor the 50th anniversary of the heroic acts of the Greensboro Four, our class performed the classroom play titled Sitting Down to Take a Stand. In this play, the class recreates the events that happened on the first week of February 1960. We have some very young talent, but do not be surprised to see us on larger stages in years to come.

Celebrating Writers

On February 23, 2010, our class took the opportunity to share our recent writing project with each other. During this project, we read and explored biographies about famous African American writers. Students began to see similar characteristics among themselves and their selected writer. The students’ challenge was to write a journal entry comparing themselves to a famous African America writer and use evidence to support their comparisons. The products are outstanding. We hope you agree. Enjoy!
