On February 23, 2010, our class took the opportunity to share our recent writing project with each other. During this project, we read and explored biographies about famous African American writers. Students began to see similar characteristics among themselves and their selected writer. The students’ challenge was to write a journal entry comparing themselves to a famous African America writer and use evidence to support their comparisons. The products are outstanding.
